Dear all,

We hope you are as fine as possible.

As you know, we will be having our lessons online until further notice and we have already started meeting with our students.

Below you can find the tentative plans we have for the Spring semester:

1. Teacher Strand

a. Distance Education Instructor Resource Pack

We have updated our “Distance Education Instructor Resource Pack” in which you can find a variety of resources from useful online platforms to use with our students to webinar recording links on effective online lessons.  We firmly encourage you to go through this pack to refresh your online teaching practices.  You can find this pack in Z-drive-Distance Education Important Documents Folder.   You can also access via this link: Distance-Education-Instructor-Resource-Pack-Updated-February-2023

b. Professional Development Activities

This semester, we intend to continue our professional development activities through the ScOLa Faculty Reading Club. There will be a total of four discussion sessions on Wednesday mornings beginning in April.

ScOLa Faculty Reading Club aims to allow instructors to become a community of learners by reading and discussing professional literature on social psychology and higher education. Through reflective dialogues, participants will have the opportunity to interact with one another to receive diverse perspectives and reflect on their current position and student tendencies.

The focus of the reading club will be on social psychology, and we will read four chapters from the seminal book The Social Animal (Aronson, 2015) along with an article that relates the topic to higher education. Reading club content for this semester will be the same as for last academic year, including chapters on the nature of social psychology, conformity, mass communication and social cognition. It is therefore possible that you will have a second opportunity to attend the club if you were not able to attend the previous academic year.

To join a social and intellectual forum to share your experiences, ideas, feelings, and reactions to professional literature, please send an e-mail to kezban.altuntas@ozyegin.edu.tr by 27 February, 17:00.

2. Student Strand

i. ÖzU English Language Support Center

This semester, ÖzU English Language Support Center will continue to provide individual support for our students both face-to-face and online starting from week 2 (February 27). The slots are being arranged based on the necessities of our current practice until further notice about the mode of instruction at universities.  We will share the finalized schedule next Monday.

ii. Student Clubs

In spring semester, we will also keep running ScOLa clubs for our students. Please see the poster below for the list of clubs that we are offering this semester and further details.

You can share this information with your students. The specific information and the posters will be shared with the relevant levels next week.
