Speakers:

Sarah Rogerson is Director of Assessment at Oxford University Press. She has worked in English language teaching and assessment for 20 years and is passionate about education for all and digital innovation in ELT. Like most people, Sarah is currently on lock-down in the UK. She’s trying to juggle work with the home-schooling of 7 year old twins and loving every minute of it!

Robin Lee has been working for Oxford University Press for five years and is the product manager for the Oxford Test of English and the Oxford Test of English for Schools. Before joining OUP, he worked as a teacher, teacher trainer, and item writer, mostly in East Asia and Southeast Asia. His interests include data analysis and the use of technology in assessment.

Colin Finnerty is the Head of Assessment Production in the Assessment Group at Oxford University Press (OUP). Since joining OUP in 2011, he has been involved in the development the Oxford Placement Test for Young Learners and the Oxford Test of English. Prior to joining OUP, Colin worked on the IELTS test at Cambridge Assessment, and spent over 14 years as a teacher and trainer, both in the UK and overseas. Colin holds an MSc in TESOL.

Ed Hackett is the Head of Assessment Research in the English Language Teaching division at Oxford University Press (OUP). He is responsible for test design and validation, and quality assurance. After joining OUP in 2010, he was involved in the development and launches of the American version of Oxford Placement Test, the Oxford Young Learners Placement Test, and the Oxford Test of English. Prior to joining OUP, Ed worked at Cambridge Assessment for 11 years, and also spent over 14 years as a teacher and teacher trainer, both in the UK and overseas. Ed holds an MSc in TESOL.

With 10 years’ working in ELT in Spain and the UK, Tom Mathews is experienced in both exam preparation for students and teacher training. Now an Assessment Support Manager at Oxford University Press, his previous roles include working as an ELT consultant, a Speaking assessor, an English coordinator in a multinational company, and a teacher in academies and businesses. Having learned Spanish to an advanced level, Tom understands the challenges that students and test takers face.

Oliver Bigland has over 8 years’ experience of working in ELT as a teacher in the UK, Spain and Japan. He holds a BA in English Literature and Modern English Language, and is currently working towards an MA in Applied Linguistics. Oliver has taught exam preparation classes for a range of English proficiency tests. He now works as an Assessment Support Manager on a number of assessment products including the Oxford Test of English at Oxford University Press.
