1. Professional development session on Monday

Instructor: Cem Kaya

Session Details: One of the hardest things to do in today’s classroom is taking our students’ attention away from their smart phones. At times, we find ourselves warning them to put it away and getting a little frustrated about it too. Some of my students even say they are “addicted” to their phones.
Then why don’t we take advantage of this “addiction” and make use of it? In my workshop, I will share with you, how I adapted Google Drive into my B2 Extension class this semester and how much those smart phones can be on our side for various teaching & learning purposes both inside and outside classroom.
Date & Time: Monday morning (09:00-10.00)
Venue: ScOLa-219

Presenter: Jane Lloyd

Jane’s current responsibilities for RTL involve working on large scale educational reform projects with ministries and NGOs, and working for the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE). Her work for ALTE is to support other national language test providers. This includes statistical analysis of items, analysis of rater performance, research into exam and language use at regional and national level, courses and training in assessment, preparation for audits, and training for item writers, test designers and raters. She has a degree in Linguistics, a DELTA, an MA in Linguistics and TESOL, and an MA in Language Testing.

What is this webinar about?

Cambridge English follows the fundamental principle that any type of assessment must be ‘Fit for Purpose’. In this webinar I will look at what this can mean in context. I will talk about the differing perceptions of assessment I have encountered around the world through my experiences both as a teacher and working in assessment. I will explore how, for teachers who want to enhance their assessment knowledge and skills, we might map out individual career development paths.

Date and Time: Monday 23 April 2018, 14.00 – 15.00 (UK time)
