We hope you have had a good start to the new week and would like to inform you about this week’s highlights:

1. Last week Meltem and Nazan had their session entitled “Drama for English Teachers” with the participation of 8 instructors. They had a lot fun while exchanging ideas. You can see how much fun they had during the session from the  photos below and attend the repeated session on April 20 to have fun and learn from each other at the same time 🙂

Study Center How-to session II: Vocabulary (REPEATED)

“A mission to Mars?”

This session aims at raising students’ awareness on the ways to improve their vocabulary in an interactive way.  In the session, students’ experiences and the challenges they face in learning vocabulary will be explored. There will be information on the importance of vocabulary knowledge in language learning, general and academic vocabulary we provide in ScOLa, and tips and suggestions on how to study for vocabulary.

Study Center How-to session III: Writing

“Effective Ways to the Reader’s Heart”

This session aims at raising students’ awareness on the ways to improve their writing skills. There are tips and suggestions on how to study for content, organization, grammar and vocabulary. The session will be held in an interactive way. Students’ experiences and the challenges they face in the writing process will be asked and effective ways will be discussed together with the students.

The webinar is free.

The Title: Practical ways to develop teachers’ assessment literacy.

This webinar will review teachers’ assessment literacy needs and compare these with training provided on a variety of different teacher education qualifications. Drawing on assessment literacy research and stakeholder feedback on CPD support videos, this talk will go on to make focussed suggestions for teachers’ ongoing CPD in this area.

The presenter: Ben Beaumont – Trinity College London

Ben Beaumont is TESOL Qualifications Manager at Trinity College London and has an interest in developing pre and in-service support or teachers to help promote effective learning and teaching. Apart from being academic lead for Trinity College’s Cert TESOL and Dip TESOL programmes, Ben’s research interests include support for teachers in English Medium Instruction contexts and his personal interests include trying to stop his cat clawing up his carpet.
